For the second time, e-Academy invites everyone who is interested in Liberal thought and Liberalism in practice to participate in a virtual seminar ”Frankly about Liberalism”. This seminar, organised by Všį „Atvira visuomenė ir jos draugai”, will take place for an entire month on the internet website www.e-akademija.lt. The participants of the seminar will learn about the history of Liberalism ideology, Liberal ideologists and their works, explore articles and book excerpts together, discuss different topics in forums, discover and understand basic notions of Liberalism, its values and principles, and understand the problematic issues of Liberalism and its uniqueness in today`s Lithuania. Finally, they will meet various interesting people and have a good time without retreating from their usual work or studies.
"This is the third of our e-Academy seminars. We used to invite only members of the Liberals Movement of Lithuania and the Liberal Youth of Lithuania. However, even though we did not advertise openly, we still received many registration forms from people who do not belong to any Liberal organisations, but who are interested in politics and political views. We are not focusing only on Liberals. We are open and we would like people who are simply interested in political events and political thought to be involved in our seminars. Therefore, we would like to invite everyone to the seminar and are looking forward to plenty of participants. The more the merrier. When participants´ thoughts and positions differ, interesting and lively discussions emerge, thereby accomplishing one of our main goals," said Jurgita Choromanskytė, e-Academy initiator and coordinator.
Participants who successfully finish the seminars receive awards, for instance the book ”Pilietinis ugdymas” written by Leonidas Donskis. The best ones are invited to visit European Parliament. Ms Daiva Juodelienė, one of the past winners of an e-Academy seminar, said that e-Academy seminars are "a perfect way of learning by checking not only your knowledge but also to what extent you are disciplined and able to reach your goal." Daiva was contented that e-Academy was able "to turn a doctrine into a game, and surfing the internet into knowledge and achievement." The Liberal Youth of Lithuania invited their members to the new seminar with a catchy phrase ”it is a brilliant opportunity to participate in the seminar ”Frankly about Liberalism” without even leaving your home and still taking care of your Facebook pets."
There is no limit for the number of participants for the e-Academy seminars. The greater the variety of participants of different ages, sex, education, experiences and political views, the more interesting and valuable seminar becomes. The main goal of e-Academy is to give an opportunity to the participants to get involved in discussions, communication, listening to the others and giving arguments in order to support their opinion. Open and reasoned dialogue is one of the fundamental values of Liberalism which are also taught in e-Academy.
”There are already about 50 registered participants despite there being a month left until the start of this seminar. Could there be a better performance rating than the one where the earlier participants keep registering for the new seminars and recommending that their friends do the same?,” said J. Choromanskytė..
If you are interested in e-Academy activities, and would like to participate in the seminar ”Frankly about Liberalism," we are pleased to invite you to register for this event by sending us your name, last name, city or town of residence, email address and phone number, and the section to which you belong to if you are a member of The Liberals` Movement or The Liberal Youth of the Republic of Lithuania and invite your friends, colleagues or neighbours to do the same. Registration will take place until 29th October 2010 through info@atviravisuomene.lt. The deion of the seminar can be downloaded here.
